Will NYSC Change State of Deployment If I Differ or Revalidate?
If you are a prospective corps member who wants to change your state of deployment, you may be wondering if deferring or revalidating your service year will help you achieve that.
In this blog post, we will explain what deferring and revalidating mean, and how they may affect your chances of getting posted to your preferred state.
Deferring your service year means postponing it to a later batch or stream. You can defer your service year if you have not registered online or printed your call-up letter.
To defer, all you need to do is to not go to the NYSC orientation camp.
Revalidating your service year means reactivating it after missing the orientation camp. You can revalidate your service year if you have registered online and printed your call-up letter, but did not report to the camp.
To revalidate, you need to log in to your dashboard and click on the “Revalidation” button. You will then receive a confirmation message and an email with further instructions.
Will Deferring or Revalidating Change My NYSC Posting?
While deferring and revalidating can offer some flexibility, it does not automatically guarantee a change in your state of deployment. The decision to change your state is ultimately determined by the NYSC management based on various factors, including:
- NYSC allocates corps members to states based on quotas and specific needs. If your desired state has already reached its quota, a change may not be possible.
- If you deferred for compelling reasons, such as health issues, the NYSC may be more inclined to consider your request for a change in deployment location.
- NYSC may consider the overall demand for corps members in different states and prioritize areas where there are shortages.
Remember, the decision to change your state of deployment ultimately lies with the NYSC. However, by proactively gathering information, seeking guidance, and understanding the process, you can increase your chances of a successful outcome.
