As a prospective or current corps member, you may have encountered the terms “NYSC revalidation” and “NYSC remobilization.” While these terms are often used interchangeably, there are distinct differences between the two procedures.

NYSC Revalidation

NYSC revalidation is primarily intended for corps members who have registered for mobilization and been deployed to a state in Nigeria for the mandatory 21-day orientation camp. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they find themselves unable to attend the camp at the scheduled time.

Revalidation provides a lifeline for these corps members, granting them the opportunity to defer their service until they are ready to serve without the need for extensive explanations or facing sanctions from NYSC officials.

How to Apply for NYSC Revalidation

The process for applying for NYSC revalidation is straightforward and can be completed online through the NYSC portal:

1. Login to the NYSC portal using your registered email address and password.
2. Scroll down to the ‘Check Mobilization Status’ section.
3. Verify your deployment status. If you have been deployed to an orientation camp in Nigeria, you will automatically be mobilized in the next stream or batch without the need for further action.
4. If you have not been deployed yet, the system will automatically initiate the revalidation process, and you will be eligible for mobilization in the subsequent stream or batch.

NYSC Remobilization

NYSC remobilization, on the other hand, is the process of being redeployed to an orientation camp after abandoning your initial NYSC service. This applies to corps members who:

1. Reported to the orientation camp, completed early registration, but later absconded from the camp without proper permission.
2. Were dismissed from the camp due to disciplinary actions.
3. Failed to report to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) after registration and camp activities.

In such instances, these corps members are required to undergo remobilization as a means of rectifying their actions and fulfilling their service obligations.

How to Apply for NYSC Remobilization

The process for applying for NYSC remobilization involves a few additional steps compared to revalidation. Follow these guidelines to initiate your remobilization request:

1. Visit the NYSC mobilization portal and locate the link for remobilization at https://portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc3/RemobInterest.aspx
2. Fill out the provided form, supplying the following information:
   • Previous Call-Up Number
   • Previous State Code
   • Previous Batch
   • Previous Deployment State
3. Provide a concise explanation for your remobilization request.
4. Submit the completed form and supporting documents (if applicable).
5. Your application will be reviewed by NYSC officials, and you will receive a notification regarding the outcome. If approved, you will be eligible for remobilization in the subsequent stream or batch.

Note: Married corps members who wants to apply for NYSC remobilization may need to provide additional documentation to verify their marital status and the need for remobilization based on their specific circumstances. These documents include:

1. Evidence of the husband’s state of residence
2. Proof of marriage
3. Husband’s identification
4. Newspaper change of name (if applicable)
5. Letter from the employer or utility bills
